A 12 month part time position (11.4 hrs/week, negotiable) exists for a resident of a Yarra Housing Estate to set up a Bike Fleet on Atherton Gardens. The position has been made available by a Fund from Sustainability Victoria. The Bike Fleet is an exciting project that will be the first of its kind in Victoria. It will see the availability of 15 bicycles for use by the residents of the Estate. The project worker would be responsible for • Overseeing bike storage installation • Purchase of bikes , helmets etc from Budget • Organising bike training courses for new residents • Promotion of fleet • Recruitment of bike fleet members • Establishing a booking system for bikes • Conducting basic safety checks on bikes • Organising ongoing maintenance • Recruitment and support of volunteers • Ongoing sustainability of project The position will receive weekly support from the North Yarra Community Health Bike Fleet Coordinator as well as a steering committee of residents and workers. The successful applicant will be able to work autonomously, show initiative and have a thorough knowledge of the community and its needs. The applicant will also require conversational English and written English.
