Yarra residents will soon be able to recycle a wide range of goods, including e-waste, on one Saturday per month, with Council extending the opening hours at its recycling drop off point.

Council’s Clifton Hill recycling centre will open between 8am and Midday on the first Saturday of each month to accept recyclable waste, starting September 4.

Yarra Mayor Jane Garrett said giving people more opportunities to recycle was just one of the ways Council was working to reduce the amount of waste ending up in landfill.

It also highlighted the challenges of spreading the recycling message and of operating an efficient service in neighbourhoods where many residents come from diverse backgrounds and face complex disadvantages.

Reporting from the (Free CitiPower Information Session)
held 6pm Monday 30/Aug/2010 Harmsworth Hall Collingwood.

30-40 residents attended with 3 questions on their minds.

1) Who will pay for the new meters (Landlord or tenant) ?
2) How much will the new meters cost ?
3) How will the new meters help them save money ?

When CitiPower was questioned to who should pay for the new meters (Landlord or tenant) we where advised this is an issue you should discuss with the Office Of Housing and at this stage they understand the user will pay.
