A Literature Review to assist the development of Neighbourhood Renewal Strategies on the Atherton Gardens Estate Fitzroy
The research aims to investigate: the range of crime reduction strategies employed in three States (NSW, OLD and SA); the degree and nature of program integration between housing and other agencie; the extent and nature of community partnerships within these programs; changes in the frequency and distribution of crime and victimisation over a five-year period; And best practice models to inform policy development, reflecting likely associations between crime and policy.
This research reports on the social experience of heroin users in regard to housing as a prelude to establishing what housing policies better assist heroin users in the community. Certainly there is a prima facie case, given the costs associated with housing provision and heroin use, for exploring and better understanding the relationship between housing and heroin use.
