This manual addresses the perceived and real problems associated with safety and security on public housing estates. It draws from a critical review of practice in Australia and overseas and it describes the measures that may be effective in particular circumstances.
 
The manual is a first step it what will be an evolving learning process.  It is proposed that the procedures, approaches and techniques outlined will be refined and added to as outcomes are monitored and new lessons are learned.

This report attempts to capture the main ideas that ran through the Neighbourhoods Alive! forum, that was orgnanised on June 14, 2001, Province of Manitoba - Canada. It's not a speech-by-speech account of the forum nor is a collection of theories supported by scrupulous scientific research. It tries to capture the great bubbling of ideas expressed that day by the best experts available - the 150 neighbourhood people. They are our real strength in strengthening neighbourhoods.

A Literature Review to assist the development of Neighbourhood Renewal Strategies on the Atherton Gardens Estate Fitzroy

The research aims to investigate: the range of crime reduction strategies employed in three States (NSW, OLD and SA); the degree and nature of program integration between housing and other agencie; the extent and nature of community partnerships within these programs; changes in the frequency and distribution of crime and victimisation over a five-year period; And best practice models to inform policy development, reflecting likely associations between crime and policy. 

This research reports on the social experience of heroin users in regard to housing as a prelude to establishing what housing policies better assist heroin users in the community. Certainly there is a prima facie case, given the costs associated with housing provision and heroin use, for exploring and better understanding the relationship between housing and heroin use.
